Unboxing and Setup

The unboxing experience is straightforward and leaves a good first impression. Inside the box, you’ll find the vacuum itself, a multi-purpose station with an attached ramp, mop pads, a power cord, an extra dust bag (with one already installed), and a comprehensive quick-start guide. Setting it up is simple: snap the ramp into place, plug in the station, charge the vacuum, and fill the clean water tank. Within minutes, you’re ready for your first cleaning run.

The Qrevo Edge S5A comes equipped with Roborock’s Duo Divide Main Brush, which features spiral blades designed to channel debris straight into the dustbin. This brush system works especially well in homes with pets or long-haired residents. Additional features such as extended side brush reach and mop extension help tackle corners and edges more efficiently, offering a noticeable improvement over typical robotic vacuums without specialized edge tools.

Performance: Vacuuming and Mopping

During our first run, the Qrevo Edge S5A performed impressively, picking up hair from three long-haired family members and a long-haired dog, as well as crumbs, dirt, and fine dust. The redesigned main and side brushes eliminated the common issue of hair tangling, which is a major advantage for pet owners. Roborock adopted a conical brush design similar to high-end competitors, and the Duo Divide roller system truly stands out in keeping carpets clean.

For mopping, the vacuum uses dual rotary pads, which worked exceptionally well on our luxury vinyl plank floors, leaving them clean and streak-free. The base station automates mop washing, water refilling, and hot air drying, making maintenance much easier. The only downside is that the station does not automatically dispense cleaning solution, meaning you have to manually add it when needed.

Suction, Carpet Performance, and Noise

In terms of suction, the Qrevo Edge S5A is rated at 18,500 Pascals, which is well above the category average of 9,900 Pascals, though slightly below Roborock’s most powerful models like the Soros 10 and 10R at 22,000 Pascals. During in-house tests measuring airflow and in-use pressure on carpets, the vacuum performed slightly below average, with an airflow of 392 FPM and in-use pressure peaking at 23 kPa. Despite these slightly lower metrics, real-world carpet cleaning results were excellent, with the Qrevo Edge S5A scoring 95 out of 100—seven points above average.

Noise levels are also manageable. Multiple suction settings allow you to adjust volume, and even on the highest setting, the vacuum reaches only 70 dB, slightly below the category average. In practice, this makes it quiet enough for daily use without being disruptive.

Battery Life and Efficiency

Battery life is another strong point for the Qrevo Edge S5A. With its 6400 mAh battery, it can run up to 240 minutes on the lowest suction setting, covering nearly 3,950 square feet before needing a recharge—well above the average coverage of most robot vacuums. On maximum suction, the vacuum covers around 513 square feet, which is below average but expected given the higher power draw. Efficiency on hard floors is solid, with the vacuum covering about 1.2 square meters per minute. Overall, it performs best on lower suction settings for large cleaning areas, but it’s capable and consistent across various surfaces.

App and Smart Features

The Roborock app, available for iOS and Android, is intuitive and packed with features. You can select cleaning modes for your whole home, individual rooms, or specific zones, while also adjusting suction and water flow. Multi-floor mapping and customizable no-go zones give you granular control, and the app allows remote management of dust bin emptying, mop washing, and drying cycles. Integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant adds convenience. However, the Qrevo Edge S5A does not include live video monitoring, so you won’t be able to watch your home remotely.

Community Feedback

The Qrevo Edge S5A has been well-received, earning strong ratings across platforms. Users appreciate its effective suction, easy setup, and intuitive app controls. Pet owners, in particular, praise its ability to handle hair without tangles. Some common criticisms include occasional struggles with obstacle avoidance—especially cords and low objects—and a high price point. Reddit users reported similar experiences: strong suction, effective mopping, and quick mapping, with minor limitations around obstacle navigation and carpet performance compared to models with dual rubber rollers.

Strengths and Areas for Improvement

The Qrevo Edge S5A excels in hair and debris removal, mop performance, and battery longevity. Its app gives users extensive control over cleaning schedules and zones, making it a versatile addition to a busy household. However, obstacle avoidance on carpets remains a challenge, corner cleaning could be more thorough, and automatic solution dispensing would be a welcome addition.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A is a thoughtfully designed, capable, and feature-rich robot vacuum. Its dual brush system and rotary mop pads deliver reliable results on both carpets and hard floors, while the long-lasting battery and intuitive app enhance usability. While no robot vacuum is perfect, the Qrevo Edge S5A strikes a strong balance between performance, convenience, and smart features, making it a solid choice for homes with pets or heavy cleaning needs.
