The eufy E28 robot vacuum and mop is one of the most versatile cleaning devices we’ve tested. Not only does it vacuum and mop, but it also doubles as a portable carpet cleaner—a combination that immediately caught our attention. Eufy provided this unit for review, and we’ve put it through its paces to see how it performs in a real home environment.

Unboxing and Setup
Opening the box, you’ll find the vacuum itself, a self-cleaning station, a portable carpet cleaner station, a ramp, and the usual product literature. It’s worth noting that no cleaning solution is included, and while no extra vacuum bags are provided, one bag comes pre-installed. Setup is straightforward: simply charge the vacuum, fill the water tank, and it’s ready to go.
First Impressions
After our first cleaning session with the E28, we were immediately impressed by how much it picked up. Our home, with five people (three with long hair) and a long-haired dog, tends to accumulate a lot of hair and dust. The E28’s Duo Spiral Detangle Brushes handled the mess with ease, showing a noticeable improvement over eufy’s previous brush designs. For vacuum enthusiasts, it’s exciting to see a brush system that actually detangles hair efficiently—a feature long overdue.
The self-cleaning station is another standout feature. Its mop washing and drying system keeps the mop pad looking brand new after every session, making maintenance much easier than with most other robot vacuums.

Smart Features
The E28 pairs with the UI Clean app, available on both iOS and Android, which is intuitive and easy to navigate. Users can choose from a variety of cleaning modes, including home, room, zone, and common area cleaning. The app allows adjustment of suction and mop settings, multi-level mapping for up to five saved maps, and the ability to set no-go zones, no-mop zones, and virtual walls. Additional features include Boost IQ for automatic suction adjustment, manual robot control, off-peak charging, and early access to experimental features through UI Lab.
Performance
In terms of performance, the E28 sits at the higher end of the price spectrum due to its advanced features. In airflow tests, it scored slightly above average, and its carpet deep cleaning performance was solid but not exceptional, with an 80 out of 100 score. While this is in line with eufy’s previous E20 model, we had hoped it would approach the level of the S1 Pro. Noise levels peaked at 74 dB—noticeable but not disruptive—and the battery life is sufficient to clean large spaces in a single run.
Portable Carpet Cleaner
Where the E28 truly distinguishes itself is its portable carpet cleaner, which can be powered directly by the robot. This means that even if the robot’s battery is depleted, you can still spot-clean on demand—a feature we haven’t seen in any other robot vacuum. The portable cleaner handled everyday messes well, although for tougher stains, pairing it with a quality carpet cleaning solution is recommended. One minor drawback is that the water flow is slightly aggressive, which could be refined for more controlled use in day-to-day cleaning.

Mopping and Design
The E28’s mopping system is another highlight. It features an extending side brush that reaches deeper into corners, and the hydrojet mopping system—also found in the flagship US1 Pro—ensures thorough floor cleaning. Its large 11.4-inch mop roller actively removes dirty water and replenishes it with fresh water in real time. The mop even lifts automatically when moving over carpets, preventing unwanted soaking.
While the mopping system is impressive, there are a few areas for refinement. A mop roller that extends slightly would improve edge and corner cleaning, and a dedicated mop-only mode would prevent issues like liquid ending up in the dust bin during heavy spills.

Overall Thoughts
The eufy E28 is a truly inventive cleaning solution, blending vacuuming, mopping, and spot carpet cleaning into one device. While it may not be the absolute best at any single task, it handles all three competently. Vacuuming performance is reliable on hard floors, though carpet deep cleaning could be stronger, and obstacle avoidance could be improved. Mopping is effective, though some additional features like mop extension and a dedicated mop-only mode would be welcome. The portable carpet cleaner adds a unique level of versatility, even if its water output could be more controlled.
For households that value convenience and versatility, the E28 is a compelling option. It reduces clutter by combining multiple cleaning functions into a single device, smartly integrates with a user-friendly app, and offers advanced features that justify its price. If you’re looking for a robot vacuum that does a little bit of everything—and does it well—the eufy E28 is definitely worth considering.
