Eureka J15 Evo Ultra Review: Powerful 22,000 Pa Suction, but Is It Worth the Price?

Today, we’re taking a closer look at the Eureka J15 Evo Ultra, Eureka’s sixth robot vacuum we’ve reviewed out of more than 120 total. Our experience with Eureka has been mixed. Their vacuums generally work well, but they often feel lost in an already crowded market. Spoiler alert: the J15 Evo Ultra is no exception. That said, testing a new model is always exciting, so let’s see how it performs.

Disclosure: Eureka sent us this unit for review, but this is not a sponsored post. We always share our honest, unfiltered opinions.

Unboxing and Setup

Inside the box, you’ll find the J15 Evo Ultra robot, its multi-purpose cleaning station with a built-in ramp and power cord, and standard product literature. The integrated power cord keeps things tidy, although it could be a concern for long-term durability. Beyond these basics, the package doesn’t include any extras such as spare bags, filters, or side brushes.

Setup is straightforward. Simply plug in the dock, fill the clean water tank, charge the robot, and connect it to the Eureka app on iOS or Android. Once the robot is linked, it’s ready to start cleaning.

Design and Build

At first glance, the J15 Evo Ultra resembles other models in the J15 lineup. Subtle differences in the front sensor suite set it apart: instead of an LED light or RGB camera, it uses a single-line laser for navigation. Underneath, the main brush is a standard rubber roller rather than Eureka’s Flex Eraser self-cutting brush, and the side brush has been redesigned into a V-shaped “Dragonclaw” intended to minimize hair tangles. While the Dragonclaw is an improvement, we would prefer a longer side brush combined with a detangling main brush for the best performance.

Cleaning Performance

In our vacuuming tests, the J15 Evo Ultra performed well, handling pet hair, crumbs, and fine dust at a level comparable to other modern robot vacuums. Its suction is impressive at 22,000 Pa, the highest in Eureka’s lineup and nearly three times the category average. This puts it in the same league as flagship models such as the Narwal Flow and Roborock Z70.

Despite the high suction rating, carpet tests showed that the Evo Ultra’s real-world performance wasn’t dramatically better than other J15 models. It achieved 357 FPM in carpet suction tests, slightly below the 423 FPM benchmark, and peaked at 24 kPa in in-use pressure tests, under the 41 kPa benchmark. This demonstrates an important point: higher Pa numbers often matter more for marketing than actual cleaning performance. Nevertheless, the J15 Evo Ultra earned a very respectable cleaning score of 95 out of 100, outperforming models like the Mova V50 and Dreamy X50 Ultra, and tying with the J15 Pro Ultra for the top score in Eureka’s lineup.

Mopping performance is more modest. The system offers mop washing with cold water and hot air drying at 131°F, along with a mop lift of 12 mm, which is above average. It also features Mop Extend, allowing one pad to reach deeper into corners and around furniture. However, it lacks the intelligence to automatically remove mop pads when vacuuming carpets and drops several other features from the J15 series, including hot water washing, main brush lifting, washboard self-cleaning, and an internal water tank. That said, the all-in-one station handles mop washing, self-cleaning, and dust bin emptying, making maintenance relatively straightforward.

App and Features

The Eureka app is intuitive and easy to navigate, offering a high level of customization. Users can adjust vacuuming and mopping settings, target specific rooms or zones, manage multi-floor maps, set no-go zones, and even control the robot with Alexa or Google Assistant. The app also tracks maintenance needs, ensuring consumables are replaced when necessary. Some of the most useful features include enhanced carpet cleaning, improved navigation under desks and furniture, manual controls, and settings to adjust the mop wash frequency. Spending a few minutes exploring the app gives a clear sense of the robot’s capabilities and how it can be fine-tuned to your home.

Pros, Cons, and Final Verdict

The J15 Evo Ultra has clear strengths. Its suction power makes it one of the best carpet-cleaning robots in Eureka’s lineup, and the all-in-one station simplifies vacuuming and mopping. The Mop Extend feature is also useful for reaching tight corners, and the app offers a high level of control.

However, the vacuum struggles in cluttered environments, tends to get stuck more easily, and lacks obstacle avoidance or a camera—features that are increasingly standard at this price point. It also drops several core J15 features, and for the cost, it feels overpriced.

For diehard Eureka fans who want a top-performing carpet cleaner, the J15 Evo Ultra may be appealing. But for most buyers, other options offer better value. Models like the MOA P10 Pro Ultra include more features at a similar price, while the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni provides comparable functionality, minus Mop Extend, for $200 less.

In short, the J15 Evo Ultra works well and delivers excellent carpet cleaning, but it doesn’t stand out in a crowded market and struggles to justify its high price.
