Review of the Eufy E20: A 3-in-1 Combo Vacuum

We’re taking a close look at the Eufy E20, a versatile 3-in-1 combo vacuum that promises to handle all your cleaning needs. Eufy sent me a sample to test, but rest assured, all opinions here are strictly my own. If you would rather watch vs read then check out our video review here:

Packaging and First Impressions

Upon unboxing, you’ll find a well-organized retail box with a neat breakout on one side showcasing the 3-in-1 device – a robot vacuum, a handheld, and a stick vacuum. These modes switch easily to adapt to various cleaning environments, whether it’s carpets, stairs, or crevices. This design not only promises to save space but also eliminates the need for multiple cleaning devices.

  • The Auto-Empty Station: Included is an auto-empty station that collects dust from all modes with a 3L sealed bag, promising up to 75 days of maintenance-free cleaning.

What’s Inside the Box

  • Manuals and Setup: A double-sided quick guide walks you through the setup and features of the E20.
  • Dock Assist Mat: This mat goes under the self-emptying station for added stability.
  • Accessories: Various tools for both the stick and robot vacuum, including the main vacuum body, extension tubes, a 2-in-1 combination tool, side brushes, and the main vacuum head.
  • Design Details: The vacuum’s main roller features both soft and hard bristles, providing versatility in cleaning different surfaces. The vacuum also pivots for better maneuverability.

The Self-Empty Station

The self-empty base is a standout feature, automatically collecting dust from all vacuum modes. It’s equipped with a 3L bag, sensors, and a 3000-watt self-empty station, all branded with the Eufy logo.

  • Ease of Maintenance: The bag is easy to replace, and the station’s design allows for straightforward access to clear any debris clogs.

Robot Vacuum Details

  • Control and Functionality: The robot vacuum has control buttons, including a unique feature where pressing a button pops out the crevice tool. It’s powered by a motor with 30,000 Pascals of suction as a cordless vacuum, which is impressive for deep cleaning.
  • Navigation and Sensors: Multiple sensors and a navigational bumper ensure the vacuum can navigate your space effectively.
  • Cleaning Features: The brush roller has an auto-leveling feature, and the design includes a hair detangling comb, although its effectiveness is somewhat limited in very hairy environments.

Performance Testing

In a real-world test in a home with long-haired residents and a dog, the vacuum picked up substantial amounts of hair and debris:

  • Brush Roller: While effective at picking up hair, the lack of advanced detangling features meant manual intervention was still necessary.
  • Dust Bin: After one use, the dust bin was quite full, showing good collection capacity, though the filter and dust bin maintenance are straightforward.

Eufy Clean App

The Eufy Clean app offers:

  • Mapping and Cleaning Options: Whole house, room, or zone cleaning with up to 10 zones at once, adjustable suction, and multi-map support.
  • Additional Features: Schedule cleaning, view history, adjust settings for better carpet cleaning or noise reduction, and even manually control the vacuum’s movements.

Comparison and Final Thoughts

  • Cost vs. Performance: Priced below average for robot vacuums but slightly above for cordless vacuums, it still offers good value considering the combo nature.
  • Suction Power: Above average for the robot vac, but the stick vacuum falls a bit short compared to competitors.
  • Battery Life: Offers a decent runtime, especially with its compact design.
  • Limitations: Lacks LED lights, can’t stand upright alone, and no mopping feature, which are notable compromises.

Conclusion:

The Eufy E20 is a jack of all trades but master of none scenario. It’s uniquely designed, especially with its space-saving station and lightweight build making it excellent for smaller or car cleaning tasks. However, for those needing top-tier performance in either robot or stick vacuum categories, there might be better specialized options. Still, for versatility and convenience, it’s a commendable choice, particularly for those already considering both types of vacuums.

Remember, while it has its shortcomings, like the lack of storage for accessories or the inability to use all accessories with the extension tube, the Eufy E20 remains an innovative product in the vacuum market.
