Unboxing and Setup

Unboxing the X9 Pro Omni is a straightforward experience. Inside the box, you’ll find the robot vacuum itself, the upgraded OmniStation, a power cord, product literature, and a quick start guide. Setting it up is simple: plug in the dock, fill the clean water tank, add your preferred cleaning solution, and allow it to charge. Once connected to the Ecovacs Home app, the vacuum is ready to start cleaning.

Cleaning Performance

Right out of the gate, the X9 Pro Omni impressed with its mopping performance. In a home with pets and high foot traffic, it handled hair, crumbs, and fine dust effortlessly. The new ZeroTangle 3.0 system kept the side brush mostly hair-free, although for households dealing with particularly heavy pet hair, a conical or split main roller would typically perform better at preventing tangles.

From a design perspective, the X9 Pro integrates its LIDAR navigation system into the center of the unit, giving it a consistent height across the body. While this design allows for robust navigation, it does limit the vacuum’s ability to fit under certain low-clearance furniture, such as some kitchen cabinets, unlike earlier Ecovacs models that tapered at the edges for easier access.

In terms of raw suction power, the X9 Pro Omni is impressive. It boasts a massive 16,600 Pascals of suction, roughly double the category average. During testing, its carpet air speed reached 746 FPM, significantly surpassing the average of 417 FPM, while airflow peaked at 10.83 CFM compared to an average of 7.29. Naturally, that level of power comes with some noise, registering 81.2 dB at maximum settings. For many, this is a reasonable trade-off considering the performance.

However, raw numbers don’t always tell the full story. In our deep carpet cleaning test, the X9 Pro scored 85 out of 100, slightly below average.

Despite its impressive specs, it does a bit less with more, which can feel disappointing given the premium hardware. On the mopping side, though, the X9 Pro performs admirably. It has a respectable mop lift height, and the OmniStation provides above-average hot water mop washing and hot air drying in a compact footprint. One caveat is the smaller-than-average dirty water tank, which means you may need to empty it more frequently throughout the week.

Smart Features and App Integration

The Ecovacs Home app, available on iOS and Android, gives users full control over the robot vacuum. You can fine-tune vacuum and mop settings, create custom cleaning scenarios, and target specific rooms or zones. It also supports multi-floor mapping, no-go zones, and AI-powered cleaning strategies. Voice commands work seamlessly with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Ecovacs’ built-in assistant.

A particularly impressive feature is AI Stain Detection 2.0, which distinguishes between light and heavy messes and automatically adjusts cleaning strategies. The vacuum can perform deep scrubs, refresh the mop, or use edge-to-center patterns without any manual input, making it a truly hands-free experience.

User Feedback

Early user feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with an average rating of 4.9 stars. Users praise the X9 Pro Omni’s edge mopping, which effectively tackles corners and baseboards, and the self-emptying dustbin, which reduces manual maintenance.

Its performance on both hardwood and carpeted surfaces has been well-received, and the app’s intuitive controls make scheduling and customization simple.

That said, the vacuum isn’t without its critics. Some users mention the high price point and occasional cleaning inconsistencies. A few have also reported mapping issues or unexpected remapping during operation.

Areas for Improvement

Despite its strong performance, the X9 Pro Omni has a few notable limitations. Obstacle avoidance on patterned or textured carpets can be inconsistent, and while the hair detangling system is an improvement, a conical main roller would further reduce tangles and maintenance. The redesigned side brush is a nice touch, but it doesn’t extend far enough to fully reach into corners, which is something you’d expect from a premium model.

The uniform height of the unit limits its ability to clean under low-clearance furniture, a task that earlier tapered models handled more easily. Additionally, the vacuum does not include cleaning solution in the box, which feels like an oversight for a high-end device. Finally, the lack of a true mop-only mode means there’s a risk of moisture entering the dustbin when cleaning larger spills.

Final Thoughts

The Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni delivers a compelling combination of powerful suction, effective mopping, and advanced smart features in a compact, space-saving base. It’s particularly well-suited for homes with mixed flooring and anyone who values largely hands-free maintenance.

However, it isn’t perfect. Inconsistent carpet performance, minor design oversights, and the lack of included cleaning solution leave room for improvement. If your priorities are powerful mopping, smart automation, and compact design, the X9 Pro Omni is easy to recommend. Just temper expectations in areas where it doesn’t fully innovate.
