First Impressions and Unboxing

The packaging immediately highlights the vacuum’s standout features, including the Osmo Roller mopping system and TrueEdge 2.0 technology. The roller mop is designed to extend along edges and corners, and the side brush reaches further than previous models, ensuring no dust or debris is left behind.

Inside the box, you’ll find a detailed quick start guide, product manuals, and warranty information. The kit also includes a ramp piece for the Omni Station, a power cord, a side cleaning brush, the vacuum mop unit itself, and the Omni Station. Right out of the box, it’s clear that this is a premium product built for convenience and high performance.

Design and Build

The X8 Pro Omni’s design is sleek and functional. The top of the vacuum houses the main control button and Ecovacs’ built-in voice assistant. Removing the cover reveals a spacious dustbin and an easily accessible filter. Along the front bumper, multiple sensors—including cameras and lidar—enable precise navigation, while the side brush can extend to reach corners effectively.

The bottom of the vacuum features dual spring-loaded drive wheels, an omnidirectional wheel, cliff sensors, and a main brush roller that is easy to clean and detangle. The roller mop slides in and out for effortless maintenance and is designed to clean in real time, so it stays spotless even after multiple cleaning sessions.

The Omni Station is equally impressive. It handles the vacuum’s self-cleaning, washing, drying, and emptying processes. Both the clean and dirty water tanks are easy to remove and fill, and the station also houses a solution tank and a removable washboard plate for quick maintenance. Setting up the station is simple—the ramp snaps into place, allowing the vacuum to drive freely on and off without any adjustments.

Real-World Performance

Testing the X8 Pro Omni in a home with three long-haired individuals and a long-haired dog demonstrated just how effective it is at cleaning pet hair and household debris. After the first run, the dustbin was already filled with hair, dust, crumbs, and other typical household messes. Despite the large amount of debris, the side and main brushes showed minimal tangling, and the roller mop remained virtually spotless, with only a small amount of moisture left in the tray.

This vacuum’s cleaning performance is impressive, especially considering the heavy presence of pet hair. The design of the roller mop and detangling brush helps minimize hair buildup, ensuring efficient cleaning without constant maintenance.

Smart Features and App Experience

The Ecovacs app provides extensive customization for cleaning schedules, suction power, water flow, and cleaning speed. You can manage both the vacuum and station settings, including emptying dust, washing the mop, and drying it afterward. Live video monitoring allows you to patrol your home remotely, and the app also supports zone cleaning, virtual walls, no-go zones, and AI-driven obstacle avoidance.

Additionally, the app integrates the built-in Ecovacs voice assistant, so you can control the vacuum without needing any third-party voice services. While the app offers deep customization, there are a few limitations. For example, there is no mop-only mode, meaning you cannot run the mopping function independently of vacuuming.

Performance Compared to the Competition

In terms of suction, the X8 Pro Omni delivers an impressive 18,000 Pascals, significantly higher than the average robot vacuum. It also has a maximum airflow of 8.2 CFM and a carpet deep cleaning score of 90 out of 100, outperforming many competing models. Despite this power, noise levels remain reasonable at 72–78 decibels. The 6,400 mAh battery provides a runtime of 291 minutes, making it one of the longest-lasting models we’ve tested.

Height is worth noting: the X8 Pro Omni measures 3.9 inches, which is slightly taller than most robot vacuums. While this design accommodates the advanced roller mop and navigation sensors, it may limit clearance under some furniture, such as kitchen cabinets with toe kicks. The dustbin, at 220 milliliters, is smaller than average, but this is typical for self-emptying units, which rely on the station to handle frequent disposal.

Mopping is where the X8 Pro Omni truly shines. The Osmo roller system uses hot water washing and self-drying technology, making it extremely effective at cleaning hard floors. The side brush extends to reach corners on both hard floors and carpets, further enhancing cleaning coverage.

Observations and Final Thoughts

The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni excels in convenience, performance, and versatility. Its roller mopping system, combined with the self-cleaning Omni Station, represents a significant step forward in robotic floor care. The side brush extension and the ability to mop and vacuum simultaneously make it a standout for homes with pets or heavy foot traffic.

However, there are areas for improvement. Obstacle avoidance could be refined, the app could offer a mop-only mode, and including a small sample of cleaning solution in the box would be a welcome addition. Additionally, the vacuum’s slightly taller profile may limit its ability to clean under some furniture.

Overall, the X8 Pro Omni is a premium option for those seeking a high-performance robot vacuum and mop that minimizes hands-on maintenance. If you want a vacuum that excels at pet hair cleanup, thorough mopping, and intelligent autonomous operation, this model is a strong contender.
