Today, we’re taking a closer look at the Ecovacs Deebot T80 Omni, a premium robot vacuum and mop designed to deliver a largely hands-free cleaning experience. A big thank you to Ecovacs for providing this unit for review. As always, our opinions are based on real-world testing and remain completely unbiased. Unboxing and Setup
Unboxing the Deebot T80 Omni reveals a well-organized package that includes the robot vacuum and mop, the 10-in-1 Omni Station, a single detangling side brush, a power cord, and several pieces of documentation, including a large quick-start guide. Setup is straightforward and user-friendly. Once the side brush is snapped into place, the robot simply needs to be charged and filled with water before it’s ready to begin cleaning.
Initial Cleaning Performance
During our first cleaning run, the T80 Omni collected exactly what you’d expect from a busy household of five, including three long-haired individuals and a long-haired dog. Crumbs, dirt, and fine dust were all handled without issue. One of the first improvements we noticed was the redesigned side brush, which significantly reduced hair tangling compared to previous designs. The main roller uses a comb-style layout that performs reasonably well, though it’s not entirely tangle-free. Some competitors employ conical roller brushes that do a better job of preventing hair wrap altogether, with Narwal currently leading in that area based on our testing.
Osmo Roller Mopping System
The standout feature of the Ecovacs Deebot T80 Omni is its Osmo roller mopping system. Roller-style mops are becoming increasingly popular, and it’s easy to see why. Unlike traditional spinning mop pads, the roller continuously applies fresh water while cleaning, which helps keep the mop cleaner throughout the entire run. This design is particularly effective for everyday wet messes and light spills.
Ecovacs pairs this system with TrueEdge 2.0, which dynamically extends the roller during edge cleaning to improve coverage along baseboards and corners. This helps the T80 Omni deliver more consistent results in areas that are often missed by robot mops.
Omni Station and Automation
When combined with the Omni Station, the T80 Omni offers a highly automated cleaning experience. The station automatically empties the dustbin and washes and dries the mop using hot water, significantly reducing hands-on maintenance. It also supports station self-cleaning, includes a detachable base plate for easier upkeep, and offers off-peak charging for improved energy efficiency.
One notable omission, however, is automatic cleaning solution dispensing. Given the otherwise premium feature set, this feels like a missed opportunity and slightly limits the system’s convenience compared to some competing models.
App Experience and Smart Features
The Ecovacs Home app, available on both iOS and Android, is one of the more polished and feature-rich apps we’ve tested. It allows users to customize nearly every aspect of the cleaning process, including suction power, water flow, cleaning speed, and whether the robot performs one or two passes in an area. Users can choose between full-home cleaning, room-specific cleaning, or targeted zone cleaning depending on their needs.
The app also supports multi-floor mapping with customizable no-go zones, along with advanced map editing tools that allow room boundaries to be expanded or adjusted. While this level of flexibility is becoming more common, it’s still a welcome feature. Additional tools include real-time accessory tracking to help manage filter and brush maintenance, robust scheduling options, and full voice assistant support through Amazon, Apple, and Google.
Once set up, the robot can operate fully autonomously, though users may still open the app thanks to its built-in live video monitoring feature. The Deebot can patrol your home, allowing you to check in on pets, monitor activity, or even deter intruders, making it more than just a cleaning device.
Performance Benchmarks
After testing more than 100 robot vacuums, we evaluated the T80 Omni against our established baseline averages. In terms of pricing, it sits above typical mid-range models but below flagship options, placing it firmly in the premium category. It falls just below the Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni and competes with models like the Dreame X40 Ultra and Roborock Qrevo Slim.
The T80 Omni delivers strong raw power, boasting 18,000 pascals of suction, the highest of any Ecovacs robot to date. Airflow performance was also impressive, measuring 8.2 CFM, which is about a full point above average. However, in our carpet deep-clean test, the robot scored 85 out of 100, slightly below both our overall average and Ecovacs’ brand average of 90.

Noise levels reached 83 dB on maximum suction, making it louder than average. Mop lift height was roughly in line with expectations, and while the roller-style design likely limits how high the mop can lift, Ecovacs has done a respectable job minimizing carpet contact.
Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance
Obstacle avoidance performance was average overall. The robot performed better on hard floors than on carpet, but still lacked the precision we expect at this price point. The embedded LiDAR system was also underwhelming, particularly since it didn’t reduce the robot’s overall height, which is typically the main benefit of this design approach.

We were glad to see the inclusion of mop extension, which remains relatively rare among roller-style systems. That said, a side brush extension would have further improved edge and corner cleaning. As it stands, corner coverage is improved but still not fully complete.
Mopping Limitations in Real-World Use
While the roller mopping system is compelling in theory, its real-world performance was mixed. In everyday cleaning, most users are unlikely to notice any issues, but in heavier mess tests the system struggled. In one instance, a milk spill was vacuumed rather than mopped, allowing liquid to enter the dustbin and leak beneath the robot. This is an issue we’ve encountered with similar designs in the past.
A dedicated mop-only mode would help prevent this problem, allowing users to safely clean wet spills without engaging the vacuum. We’d also like to see liftable main and side brushes in future models, provided they can lift high enough to avoid contamination when liquids are present.
Final Thoughts
The Ecovacs Deebot T80 Omni is a well-rounded premium robot vacuum that combines strong suction, an advanced Omni Station, and an innovative roller mopping system. Its app experience is excellent, offering deep customization, smart mapping, and even live home monitoring.
However, it’s not without compromises. Obstacle avoidance is only average, the roller mop can struggle with heavier messes, and the lack of features like mop-only mode, liftable brushes, and automatic solution dispensing limits its flexibility. For the right household, the T80 Omni can still be a compelling option—but it doesn’t quite deliver flagship-level performance across every category.
