Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ UV Robot Vacuum Launches With AI Stain Detection and UV Cleaning Verification

Dyson expands its Fall 2026 lineup with a new robot vacuum designed to detect stains, verify cleaning results with UV light, and deliver a deeper, more hygienic clean with minimal hands-on maintenance.

Dyson has unveiled the Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ UV robot vacuum cleaner, introducing a new level of intelligence and automation to robotic floor cleaning. Combining AI-powered stain detection, UV floor verification, heated-water washing, powerful suction and an advanced self-cleaning dock, the new robot is designed to go beyond simply picking up dust and debris.

At the heart of the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ is Dyson’s AI stain-scanning technology. The robot can identify almost 200 types of spills, stains and objects, according to Dyson, distinguishing between wet and dry spills and determining how many cleaning passes may be required.

The system then adds another layer of verification with UV light.

AI Detects Stains, While UV Checks the Results

The R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ follows a multi-step cleaning process designed to identify and remove stubborn messes. After detecting a stain, the robot calculates the cleaning passes required before using UV light to analyze the floor between passes.

For tougher stains, Dyson says the robot can perform up to 15 cleaning passes. It continues checking the area between passes before determining whether it is ready to move on.

This combination of AI detection and UV verification is intended to make robotic cleaning more responsive, allowing the machine to focus its cleaning effort where it is needed rather than treating every part of the floor identically.

A Self-Cleaning Roller for a Smear-Free Finish

For hard floors, the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ features a self-cleaning wet roller supported by a 12-point hydration system. Fresh, heated water is continuously applied to the roller as it rotates, helping it clean itself during operation while maintaining a fresh-water cleaning process across the floor.

The system uses water heated to 158°F to assist with removing stubborn stains. When the robot encounters a wall, sensors detect the edge and automatically extend the wet roller by up to 1.57 inches, helping it clean closer to walls and reduce missed areas.

Two anti-tangle side sweepers are also designed to reach into corners and other hard-to-reach areas.

30,000 Pa Suction and Pet-Hair Management

Beyond wet cleaning, Dyson has equipped the robot with 30,000 Pa of motor suction, designed to remove dust, hair and larger debris from floors.

An automatically adjusting suction system increases power when the robot detects carpet, while the wet roller lifts by 0.39 inches when soft flooring is detected.

Pet owners also get a Dyson-engineered anti-tangle brush bar featuring a chevron silicone roller. The design is intended to collect and de-tangle pet hair while reducing the need for manual maintenance.

LiDAR Mapping and Intelligent Navigation

The R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ uses high-speed LiDAR scanning to map rooms and navigate through the home. The system is designed to help the robot understand its surroundings, avoid obstacles and clean according to the mapped environment.

Through the MyDyson™ app, users can edit maps, customize cleaning routines, track cleaning trends, establish no-go zones and configure periods when the robot should not operate.

A Dock Designed for Hands-Free Cleaning

Dyson’s new robot is paired with an automated dock that handles several maintenance tasks when the machine returns from a cleaning cycle.

The dock uses 10 Dyson cyclones to remove and separate dust and debris from the robot, with storage capacity for up to 100 days of debris, according to Dyson.

The dock also washes the roller using fresh water heated to 158°F before running an automatic hot-air drying cycle at 131°F. Dyson says the drying cycle takes approximately three hours and is designed to help eliminate dampness and unwanted odors.

The system also automatically refills, recharges and cleans the robot, reducing the amount of routine maintenance required from the owner.

Automated Cleaning Solution Dosing

The R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ dock incorporates automatic dosing for Dyson 02 Probiotic hard floor cleaning solution. Dyson says the solution is designed to provide a microscopic-level clean on hard floors.

Combined with the robot’s fresh-water roller system and automated dock cleaning, the setup is intended to provide a more hygienic floor-cleaning process from start to finish.

AI Processing Designed With Privacy in Mind

Dyson says the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™’s advanced AI system operates within the robot’s secure processing environment. According to the company, this eliminates dependence on cloud processing and means images are not stored on the robot itself.

This approach allows the robot to process its detection and navigation functions while keeping those operations within the device.

Dyson’s Next Step in Automated Floor Care

With the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™, Dyson is bringing together several technologies—AI-powered stain detection, UV verification, heated-water washing, powerful suction, LiDAR navigation and an automated cleaning dock—in a single robotic cleaning system.

Rather than simply completing a predefined cleaning route, the robot is designed to detect what is on the floor, adapt its cleaning response and check its work before moving on. The result is a more automated approach to maintaining hard floors, carpets and homes with pets.

The Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub™ UV robot vacuum cleaner forms part of Dyson’s Fall 2026 product lineup, extending the company’s focus on intelligent floor-care technology and reducing the amount of manual intervention required for everyday cleaning.
