Unlike traditional mops that often spread dirty water across the floor, or conventional wet cleaners that pull waste through internal pipes and exhaust filters, the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene™ introduces a new approach to hygiene. Its innovative waste management system keeps dirt, hair, and contaminated water inside the cleaner head instead of drawing debris through the machine. By eliminating the need for an exhaust filter, the cleaner also avoids the filter-related odors and clogging commonly associated with many wet floor cleaning systems, helping maintain fresher operation over time.
At the heart of the Clean+Wash Hygiene™ is Dyson’s highly absorbent microfiber roller, engineered with 84,000 densely packed microfiber filaments that rapidly lift and absorb everything from fine dust and pet hair to liquid spills and stubborn stains. Rather than relying on conventional suction alone, the motor-driven roller actively captures debris while simultaneously washing the floor. An integrated anti-tangle comb continuously removes hair from the roller during operation, reducing maintenance and making the cleaner especially well suited for households with pets or long-haired family members.
A key advantage of the system is its ability to clean with fresh water throughout the entire cleaning session. As the roller rotates, it is continuously scraped clean before being rehydrated with fresh water, ensuring that dirty water is never redistributed across the floor. At the same time, an automatic waste separation system keeps dirty water isolated from dry debris, making disposal cleaner, faster, and more hygienic once the job is complete.
Performance is equally impressive. Powered by Dyson’s cordless battery technology, the Clean+Wash Hygiene™ delivers up to 70 minutes of runtime in Level 1 Hydration Mode, allowing users to clean areas of up to 3,770 square feet on a single charge. Four selectable cleaning modes make it easy to adapt to different cleaning tasks, whether removing everyday dust, tackling pet hair, wiping up sticky kitchen spills, or loosening dried-on stains that would typically require additional scrubbing.
Dyson has also focused heavily on reducing post-cleaning maintenance. Emptying the machine is designed to be quick and hygienic, with the dirty water tank and debris tray removable in a single motion for disposal in approximately 20 seconds. Once cleaning is finished, the integrated Self-clean cycle automatically flushes the internal system, helping remove any remaining residue. The included hot-air drying dock then dries the microfiber roller using 185°F (85°C) heated air, helping minimize moisture buildup that can lead to unpleasant odors or bacterial growth between cleaning sessions.
Another notable benefit is the cleaner’s ability to leave floors nearly dry immediately after use. Thanks to the absorbent microfiber roller and carefully controlled hydration system, the Clean+Wash Hygiene™ leaves behind less than 1 gram of water per square meter, allowing most hard floors to dry in approximately one minute while maintaining a streak-free finish.
Setup has also been designed with convenience in mind. Users simply connect the wand to the main cleaning unit, plug in the drying dock, and fill the clean water container before first use. Dyson recommends hydrating the microfiber roller for approximately two minutes before the initial cleaning session and adding its Dyson 02 Probiotic formulation to the clean water tank for optimal cleaning performance. To maintain peak performance over time, the company also advises replacing the microfiber roller every six to twelve months, depending on usage.
