Dreame Matrix10 Pro Review: The Robot Vacuum That Automatically Swaps Its Mop Pads

The Dreame Matrix10 Pro is one of the most innovative robot vacuums we’ve tested, introducing an automatic mop pad swapping system that feels like having a miniature “mop pad vending machine” in your home. While we’ve seen similar concepts showcased at CES over the past several years, it’s exciting to finally see this technology arrive in a real consumer product.

If you’ve watched our Mova Mobius 60 review, many of the same observations and comparisons apply here. This marks the 24th Dreame robot vacuum we’ve reviewed and the 145th robot vacuum overall tested on our channel. Dreame has consistently delivered excellent performance and remains one of our top three robot vacuum brands thanks to its combination of features, cleaning ability, and overall value.

Unboxing & Setup

Dreame includes an impressive collection of accessories with the Matrix10 Pro. Alongside the robot itself is a large multifunction docking station with its ramp and power cable, three sets of color-coded mop pads, three matching cleaning solutions, an additional dust bag, and the standard documentation. Each mop pad corresponds to a dedicated cleaning solution, including an all-purpose cleaner, a pet odor formula, and a wood floor cleaner. It’s the first robot vacuum we’ve tested featuring a triple cleaning solution tank system, making it one of the more unique additions we’ve seen in this category.

Setup is quick and straightforward. Simply attach the magnetic mop pads using the matching color indicators, fill the clean water tank, add each cleaning solution to its designated reservoir, and pair the robot with the Dreame Home app. Within minutes, the Matrix10 Pro is ready for its first cleaning run.

First Impressions

From the moment the Matrix10 Pro begins operating, it’s clear that Dreame designed this model to showcase its latest technology. Watching the robot automatically exchange mop pads inside the dock is genuinely fascinating, and it’s one of those features that immediately grabs your attention. While it may sound like a novelty at first, the automation is remarkably smooth and quickly becomes one of the most satisfying aspects of owning the robot.

Vacuuming performance immediately met our expectations. Hair, pet fur, crumbs, and everyday dust were cleaned with ease, performing similarly to other premium Dreame models. Dreame also includes its dual conical roller brush system, which continues to be one of our favorite anti-tangle brush designs. Pet owners and households with long hair will especially appreciate how effectively it minimizes hair wrapping around the brushes.

Navigation was equally impressive. Mapping completed quickly, movement throughout the home was smooth from the very first cleaning cycle, and overall setup proved completely painless. One interesting omission, however, is the lack of retractable LiDAR, especially considering that the less expensive Mova Mobius 60 includes it. That becomes a more important discussion when evaluating the robot’s overall value.

Vacuum Performance

On paper, the Matrix10 Pro is one of the most powerful robot vacuums currently available. Dreame rates it at an incredible 30,000 Pa of suction, roughly three times the average across our test database. That places it alongside Dreame’s H11 and the eufy S2 while comfortably exceeding competitors like the Roborock Z10 and Narwal Flow.

At maximum power we measured approximately 78 dB, making it somewhat louder than many competing robots. Given the amount of suction available, however, the extra noise feels like a fair compromise.

Our airflow testing produced a strong 486 FPM, comfortably above the category average of 427 FPM. Interestingly, carpet pressure reached only 0.17 kPa, well below average. Our best explanation is that the dual roller brush system doesn’t create as tight a seal against carpet as single-roller designs, something we’ve observed on several other dual-brush robots.

That trend continued during deep carpet cleaning. The Matrix10 Pro removed 90% of coffee grounds, 40% of embedded sand, and 100% of cat litter during our standardized testing. Larger debris performance was excellent, with both coffee grounds and cat litter exceeding average results. Fine debris such as sand remains a weaker point, reminding us once again that extremely high advertised suction numbers don’t always translate directly into superior carpet cleaning.

Mopping Performance

If vacuuming is excellent, mopping is where the Matrix10 Pro truly distinguishes itself.

The docking station washes the mop pads using 212°F (100°C) hot water, the hottest temperature we’ve measured on any robot vacuum to date, before drying them with approximately 113°F (45°C) hot air. Dreame also introduces what it calls a thermal mop system, where freshly washed pads temporarily retain heat while cleaning your floors.

In practice, however, expectations should remain realistic. According to Dreame’s own specifications, pad temperatures fall to approximately 86–104°F within the first minute before continuing to cool. While it’s an interesting concept that may improve future generations of robot vacuums, the heating effect during actual cleaning is relatively brief.

The robot’s 10.5 mm mop lift is fairly average, but its ability to completely detach and reattach the mop pads at the docking station is genuinely groundbreaking. Rather than simply lifting damp pads over carpet, the Matrix10 Pro leaves them behind entirely before vacuuming rugs. This completely eliminates the common problem of dragging damp mop pads across carpeted surfaces.

The mop itself can also extend outward to improve edge cleaning around furniture legs and baseboards, while the docking station handles detergent dispensing, mop washing, pad drying, dust collection, and self-cleaning automatically.

Combined with its triple cleaning solution system, the Matrix10 Pro offers one of the most advanced and hands-free mopping experiences currently available.

The only notable omission is the lack of an ozone or antimicrobial water treatment system, which could help reduce odors inside the dirty water tank during extended periods between cleanings.

Battery Life & Cleaning Efficiency

Dreame rates the Matrix10 Pro for up to 180 minutes of runtime using its 6,400 mAh battery, although our standardized testing provides a more realistic picture of everyday performance.

At minimum suction, the robot covered approximately 1,480 square feet, while maximum suction reduced coverage to 673 square feet. Although those figures fall slightly below our category averages, they’re still competitive with similarly equipped flagship robots and outperform models like the Mobius 60 and Dreame X60 Max Ultra in certain scenarios.

Cleaning efficiency measured 1.1 square meters per minute, placing it almost exactly at the category average of 1.2. Overall, the Matrix10 Pro delivers respectable endurance, although its emphasis is clearly on cleaning performance rather than outright efficiency.

Obstacle Avoidance

Obstacle avoidance continues to improve across the robot vacuum industry, and the Matrix10 Pro performs well in our latest standardized testing. It earned an overall score of 83%, placing it slightly ahead of the Dreame L40 while trailing the flagship X60 Max Ultra.

During hard floor testing, the robot successfully navigated around most objects but still made contact with our simulated pet waste. Fortunately, it stopped short of driving through it, though any contact with real pet waste could still result in an unpleasant cleanup.

Interestingly, carpet performance was even stronger. Despite the additional challenge posed by patterned carpeting, the Matrix10 Pro completely avoided the fake pet waste. Its only mistake came when it became tangled with our USB cable, costing it a point. Overall, the robot performs roughly 23% better than the average robot vacuum we’ve tested in this category.

Dreame Home App

The Dreame Home app continues to be one of our favorite robot vacuum platforms. Available for both iOS and Android, it offers extensive customization, including room-specific cleaning, custom routines, no-go zones, multi-floor mapping, live video monitoring, off-peak charging, maintenance reminders, and support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Dreame’s built-in voice assistant.

One of the most unique features is the ability to assign specific mop pads to individual rooms. For households concerned about hygiene, this allows bathroom mop pads to remain separate from those used in kitchens or living spaces, helping reduce cross-contamination between different areas of the home.

The only limitation we noticed is that detergent selection remains tied directly to the assigned mop pads rather than allowing completely independent control. Even so, despite its depth and slight learning curve, the Dreame Home app remains one of the best robot vacuum apps currently available, with Roborock being its closest competitor.

Early Owner Feedback

Because the Matrix10 Pro is still a very new release, customer feedback remains somewhat limited. Early owners have been overwhelmingly positive, praising its powerful vacuuming, advanced automation, intelligent navigation, and innovative mop swapping system that creates an exceptionally hands-free cleaning experience.

Some users have reported occasional firmware quirks, minor mop handling issues, water leakage concerns, and questions surrounding long-term reliability and customer support. These are fairly typical observations for an early flagship release, and we’ll continue monitoring long-term feedback as more owners spend time with the product.

Where the Matrix10 Pro Falls Short

As impressive as the Matrix10 Pro is, it isn’t without compromises.

The automatic mop swapping system is undeniably innovative and functions remarkably well, but it also raises an important question: how many homeowners actually need this level of automation? For many households, simply lifting the mop pads may already be sufficient. However, for users who want dedicated mop pads for bathrooms, kitchens, and other living spaces, the system offers a genuinely practical advantage by helping prevent cross-contamination.

Our larger concern is pricing. The Matrix10 Pro does not include retractable LiDAR, a feature available on the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra for only about $100 more. Even more difficult to ignore is the Mova Mobius 60, which also includes retractable LiDAR while costing roughly $200 less. Buyers would give up the third cleaning solution tank, but many will likely consider that a worthwhile trade-off.

We would also like to see stronger deep carpet cleaning with fine debris such as sand, along with slightly better overall cleaning efficiency.

Final Verdict

The Dreame Matrix10 Pro offers one of the most ambitious approaches to robot vacuum mopping we’ve seen so far. Its automatic mop swapping system is genuinely innovative, the docking station is among the most advanced we’ve ever tested, and the overall hands-free experience is exceptional.

Combined with excellent navigation, powerful suction, one of the industry’s best companion apps, dual conical anti-tangle brushes, and the unique triple cleaning solution system, it delivers a premium experience that feels like a glimpse into the future of automated floor care.

At the same time, this is a robot designed for a specific type of buyer. If advanced mopping automation and room-specific mop separation are high on your priority list, the Matrix10 Pro is one of the most compelling options currently available. However, its premium price becomes more difficult to justify when competing models—including some within Dreame’s own lineup—offer retractable LiDAR and similar overall performance for less money.

Even so, the Matrix10 Pro remains one of the most technologically ambitious robot vacuums we’ve tested. It may not be the most practical choice for every home, but there’s no question that Dreame continues to push the industry forward, and we’re excited to see how this technology evolves in future generations.
