Let’s kick things off with the unboxing experience!
Unboxing and Setup
Inside the box, you’ll find everything you need to get started. The Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 comes with the robot vacuum itself, a self-emptying station, an extra vacuum bag, a mopping module, a power cord, and the usual product literature. Setting it up is simple—just snap the side brush into place, charge the vacuum, and fill the water tank. Once that’s done, you’re ready to start cleaning!

Cleaning Performance
After using the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 for its first cleaning cycle, we were immediately impressed by its ability to tackle a variety of debris. It picked up everything from pet hair and human hair to dirt, crumbs, and fine dust. For those of us with kids, it even managed to grab some stray stickers and Play-Doh—so, thanks for that, kids! We did notice that the mop head showed some discoloration from dirt buildup, which is expected, so be sure to rinse it after every use.
The roller brush also performed well, but if you have long hair like us, you’ll want to keep an eye on it. Over time, hair tends to accumulate on both ends of the brush, so regular trimming is necessary to maintain optimal cleaning performance.
App Features and Smart Functionality
One of the standout features of the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 is its companion app, available for both iOS and Android devices. The app is clean, intuitive, and offers a rich set of features. You can customize the cleaning experience by selecting full room or zone cleaning modes, adjusting suction power, and controlling the mop’s wetness levels. Additionally, the app allows for multi-level mapping, meaning it can store up to three maps at once, making it perfect for homes with multiple floors.
The app also provides great control over where the vacuum cleans by letting you set no-go zones, no-mop zones, and virtual walls. Another helpful feature is real-time accessory tracking, which notifies you when it’s time to clean or replace parts like filters and brushes.
For those who prefer a more hands-off approach, you can schedule cleaning sessions directly in the app. Once it’s set up, you won’t have to touch the app again, and if you want to drive the robot manually, you can do that too. It’s all about giving you as much control (or as little) as you want.
Comparing the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 to Other Robot Vacuums
Having tested over 100 robot vacuums, we were curious how the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 would stack up against the average model. For a vacuum that costs less than half the price of most high-end robot vacuums, it holds its own surprisingly well.
When it comes to suction power, the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 offers 1300 pascals of suction, which is slightly below the average for robot vacuums. However, this is still more than enough for most households, and it doesn’t compromise on real-world cleaning performance. In fact, it even scores above average when measured for air flow (CFM), which is another positive indicator of its efficiency.
The D10 Plus Gen 2 also performed well in our carpet deep-cleaning test, scoring 90 out of 100, which is higher than the average. Interestingly, it didn’t perform as well as the original Dreame D10, which is worth noting, but still, it’s a solid result for the price.
In terms of noise, the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 peaked at 79 dB, which is technically a bit louder than average, but it’s not enough to be a major concern. It’s still quieter than many other robot vacuums, especially considering its strong suction power.
As for battery life, Dreame advertises a 285-minute runtime, which is impressive. However, since the D10 Plus Gen 2 uses the same battery as the original D10, we’re curious about how those numbers were calculated. In real-world use, the battery is more than enough to clean most homes in a single session, though the actual runtime will depend on your settings and floor type.
What’s Missing?
For the price, the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 offers a lot of features that you typically find only in higher-end models. It can vacuum, mop, self-empty, navigate stairs, and even supports multi-level mapping and customizable station controls. Few robot vacuums at this price point offer all of that, so there’s a lot to love here.
That said, there are a couple of areas where the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 could improve. First, the obstacle avoidance could use some refinement. While the vacuum can detect larger objects like furniture legs and cameras and slow down accordingly, smaller objects still get the “bump and run” treatment rather than being avoided altogether.
Secondly, the roller brush design could be improved to prevent hair tangles. We think that Dreamy’s triut brush or the cylindrical roller from the X50 Ultra would be excellent upgrades in future models. These small design tweaks could make a big difference in reducing maintenance needs.
Conclusion: Is the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 Worth It?
All things considered, the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 offers an impressive combination of features and solid cleaning performance, especially for its price. While there are a few areas that could use some refinement—namely in obstacle avoidance and roller brush design—it still provides excellent value for anyone looking for a high-performance robot vacuum and mop without breaking the bank.
So, the big question is: Would you choose the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 over a more expensive, high-end model? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
