Unboxing and Setup

Unboxing the Z10 is straightforward and well organized. Inside the box, you’ll find the vacuum itself, a self-cleaning station, left and right side brushes, a power cord, product literature, and a bottle of cleaning solution. Setup is simple and intuitive. The color-coded side brushes snap easily into place, the cleaning solution is installed without hassle, and charging the unit prepares it for its first cleaning session.

First Impressions

After our initial cleaning, we were genuinely impressed with the Z10’s performance. In a household of five people—including three with long hair—and a long-haired dog, it handled crumbs, dirt, and fine dust with ease. The vacuum’s zero-tangling roller brush proved highly effective, managing hair without getting caught. For homes with pets or long-haired residents, this brush design quickly becomes a favorite.

The self-cleaning station is equally impressive. Its mop washing and drying capabilities are particularly noteworthy. High-end features like automatic detergent dispensing, AI-driven hot water mop washing, and self-cleaning functions make the station stand out. The AI system even analyzes wastewater to determine whether additional mopping is required, ensuring consistently clean floors with minimal effort. While the mop pads generally held up well, we noticed slight discoloration and staining at the very center after intense cleaning sessions, which is worth keeping in mind.

Smart Features and the Narwal App

The Narwal app, available on both iOS and Android, offers a feature-rich experience with an intuitive interface. It supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Google Assistant, making hands-free operation effortless. Users can select from multiple cleaning modes, including full-room or zone cleaning, and adjust suction power and mop wetness levels.

For those who prefer automation, the Freo mode allows the Z10 to intelligently manage its cleaning routine. The app supports multi-level mapping and customizable no-go zones. One of the more unique features is the ability to expand or contract room boundaries during map editing, giving you precise control over your layout. Performance

With over 100 robot vacuums tested, we were able to compare the Z10 against our baseline averages. The vacuum’s suction power reaches an impressive 15,000 Pascals, the highest among Narwal models and well above average for the market. Airflow, measured in-house, scored 9.1 CFM, nearly two points higher than typical results. On our carpet deep-clean test, the Z10 earned a score of 95 out of 100, surpassing the brand average of 93 and performing in line with other Freo models.

Noise levels are slightly above average on maximum suction, peaking at 76 dB, but on the quietest setting, it operates as low as 55 dB, making it suitable for noise-sensitive environments. The mop lifting height is also above average, keeping the mop head off carpets and rugs when transitioning between surfaces.

Areas for Improvement

While the Z10 is impressive overall, a few areas could use refinement. Obstacle avoidance was only average in our testing, and the unit lacks the advanced camera-based recognition found in the Freo Ultra. Corner cleaning is good, but adding side brush extension could improve edge coverage during both vacuuming and mopping.
