The Dreame X60 Max Ultra is the brand’s newest flagship robot vacuum and the 17th Dreame model we’ve tested to date. After reviewing more than 135 robot vacuums, Dreame continues to be one of our favorite manufacturers, and expectations were understandably high—especially following strong performers like the X40 and X50. The X60 aims to refine that formula rather than reinvent it, focusing on raw power, smarter automation, and incremental quality-of-life improvements.
Before getting into the details, it’s worth clarifying that while Dreame provided the unit for review, this review is not sponsored. All impressions are based on hands-on testing and real-world use.
Unboxing and First Impressions
The complete version of the Dreame X60 Max Ultra arrives with one of the most generous accessory packages we’ve seen from a flagship robot. Alongside the robot itself, the box includes a full multi-purpose cleaning station, multiple bottles of cleaning solution—including pet-specific formulas—spare dust bags, mop pads, filters, brushes, and all necessary documentation. Everything you need for long-term use is included right out of the box.

Physically, the X60 stands out immediately for its slimmer profile, which should help with under-furniture access. Despite the reduced height, it maintains the familiar X-series design language. Once powered on, one of the most noticeable upgrades is the integrated blue light, designed to highlight fine debris and stains such as pet hair that might otherwise be missed.

Turning the robot over reveals a redesigned dual brush roller system. Dreame keeps the conical brush shape that’s effective at reducing hair tangles, but now adds a retractable pressure plate that improves carpet contact. In practice, this resulted in visibly clean carpets with well-defined vacuum lines, a good early sign of strong pickup performance.
Vacuum Performance and Testing Results
The Dreame X60 Max Ultra is all about power. With a claimed 35,000 pascals of suction, it currently holds the highest suction rating we’ve ever tested—roughly three times the category average and about 5,000 Pa more than Dreame’s own Aqua 10. Despite that extreme output, noise levels remain surprisingly controlled, measuring 76 dB on max power, only slightly louder than average. Running the vacuum at lower suction levels significantly reduces noise, and scheduling cleanings overnight makes sound a non-issue altogether.
In our carpet in-use airflow testing, the X60 recorded 553 feet per minute, well above our 425 FPM average and a clear improvement over the X50’s 497 FPM. In-use pressure peaked at 0.35 kPa, which is slightly below average but consistent with other Dreame models using a similar dual-brush design. This appears to be a trade-off that favors debris movement and anti-tangle performance over creating the tightest possible carpet seal.
We also expanded our testing this year to include sand and cat litter, in addition to our standard coffee grounds test. The X60 scored an impressive 95 out of 100 on coffee grounds, well above average and ahead of both the Aqua 10 and X50. Results were more mixed with finer and heavier debris, scoring 80 on sand and 88 on cat litter. Interestingly, coffee grounds produced the strongest result, suggesting that particle size alone doesn’t fully explain performance differences. Since this is the first vacuum we’ve run through these additional tests, the data provides useful context rather than definitive conclusions.
Mopping System and Dock Automation
Mopping performance will feel very familiar to anyone who has used the X40 or X50. That’s not a criticism—results on hard flooring were consistently excellent, with LVP floors coming out spotless. The system remains fully automated, handling mop washing, cleaning solution dispensing, hot air drying, and even self-cleaning of the base station.
The dock supports 212°F hot water mop pad washing, which can be enabled in the app through a high-temperature soaking option. This adds roughly five minutes to allow the water to heat. Mop lift height sits at an average 10.5 mm, but a standout feature is the robot’s ability to automatically remove the mop pads before vacuuming carpets, eliminating the risk of damp fibers. The mop pad also extends outward to improve edge coverage, and the dual-chamber solution tank allows separate formulas for general cleaning and pet-related messes.
It’s important to clarify Dreame’s “hot mopping” messaging. While the mop pads are washed and heated with hot water, the robot does not actively mop floors with continuously heated water. Any retained heat dissipates quickly, typically within about a minute. Buyers expecting true hot-water floor mopping throughout the cleaning cycle may be disappointed.
Navigation, Obstacle Avoidance, and Battery Efficiency
Navigation is smooth and consistent, with fast mapping and reliable room recognition right out of setup. The biggest advancement here is obstacle avoidance. The X60 is the first robot vacuum we’ve tested with true real-time obstacle processing. Objects placed directly in its path—even mid-run—are detected and avoided almost instantly. In testing, this worked exactly as advertised, including with small items like a Hot Wheels car, which is particularly impressive for homes with kids or pets.
In formal obstacle avoidance testing, the X60 performed flawlessly on hard floors. On carpet, it made contact with a fake piece of pet waste and a USB cable, bringing its overall score to 88%, slightly below the Aqua 10 but still strong overall.

Rather than focusing solely on advertised runtime, we measure battery efficiency, or how much area the robot can realistically cover. In our best-case scenario—low suction on hard floors—the X60 cleaned approximately 3,588 square feet, nearly double what the Aqua 10 managed. In the worst case, using maximum suction on carpets, coverage dropped to about 598 square feet, below average but still outperforming the Aqua 10. This highlights a common trend with flagship models: extreme suction power comes at the cost of faster battery drain.
App Experience and Smart Features
The Dreame Home app, available on both iOS and Android, remains one of the most comprehensive robot vacuum platforms we’ve used. It offers deep customization for both vacuuming and mopping, supports multi-floor mapping, allows precise room and zone targeting, and integrates with Amazon and Google voice assistants. The app also includes a built-in voice assistant and live video monitoring.
Pet-focused features are particularly well thought out. Pet Voice Interaction lets you play sounds through the robot to engage or comfort pets while you’re away. Pet Finding Mode allows you to locate your pet and capture snapshots using the onboard camera. The Pet Activity Zone feature automatically identifies high-traffic pet areas and prioritizes them for more frequent cleaning.
Additional quality-of-life features include off-peak charging, selective side-brush activation on carpets, and real-time maintenance tracking. While the app’s depth creates a slight learning curve, it remains one of the most polished and capable ecosystems available. Among all the robot vacuum apps we’ve tested, Dreame’s is still our personal favorite, with Roborock close behind.
Real-World Concerns and Final Thoughts
As with any robot vacuum, there’s room for improvement. One minor but noticeable issue is that the water tanks are harder to latch than on previous Dreame models. It’s a small detail, but long-time users will likely notice the difference immediately. The onboard dust bin is also quite small, which may be a concern for homes with heavy-shedding pets. Given past complaints about clogging on models like the Aqua 10, this is something potential buyers should keep in mind.
Looking ahead, we’d like to see true real-time hot water mopping, stronger corner cleaning, the addition of electrolyzed or silver-ion water treatment, and longer battery life when running at maximum suction. These changes would push Dreame’s flagship experience even further.
So where does that leave the Dreame X60 Max Ultra? Simply put, it’s one of the most powerful and technologically advanced robot vacuums we’ve ever tested. Suction performance is unmatched, obstacle avoidance is genuinely impressive, and the automation and app experience are among the best in the industry. However, this is an incremental flagship. Owners of the X50 may not find enough here to justify upgrading, especially given the premium price.
For users coming from older models—or those who want the strongest suction and smartest navigation Dreame currently offers—the X60 absolutely delivers. It’s a no-compromise robot when it comes to raw cleaning power and automation, even if that performance comes with trade-offs. For value-focused shoppers, the X50 remains a very compelling alternative, but for those chasing peak performance, the X60 stands at the top of Dreame’s lineup.
